1 Pick one skill and go deep

Choose one path: web development (HTML/CSS/JS), Python, graphic design, virtual assistance, or digital marketing. Employers hire specialists, not generalists. Use free resources like freeCodeCamp, CS50, and Coursera to build foundations.

2 Build a portfolio with real projects

Create 2–3 projects you can show: a business website for a local shop, a mobile-friendly landing page, a data dashboard, or design samples. Host code on GitHub; designers can use Behance or a Google Drive portfolio. Quality beats quantity.

3 Get your CV and LinkedIn right

Use our free CV builder — formatted for international and local employers. On LinkedIn: professional photo, headline with your skill (e.g. "Junior Web Developer | Accra"), and link to your portfolio.

4 Apply strategically

Target: Ghana tech companies (Hubtel, mPharma, Zeepay, local agencies), remote platforms (Upwork, Turing, Andela talent network), and internship programmes. Apply to 10–15 roles per week. Customise each cover message — mention one specific thing about the company.

5 Prepare for interviews

Practice explaining your projects in 2 minutes. Expect technical questions for dev roles (basic coding challenge) or portfolio walkthroughs for design. Research the company. Ask one smart question at the end — it shows genuine interest.

Reality check: Your first role might be an internship or junior contract at GH₵ 1,500–3,000/month. That is normal. Learn, then move up or switch to remote dollar-paying work within 12–18 months.
